The Basic G flute is our most popular key, small enough for most people to play comfortably with its soothing, low voice. As seen in the image of three flutes, it is the middle-sized one. It is a great choice for beginners and experienced musicians alike.

Our Basic G flutes are crafted from high-quality, unstained western red cedar, resulting in a wide range of warm brown tones. The exact wood color may vary slightly from the photos. Cedar is a softwood, making the flutes lightweight, and is one of the most popular choices for Native American flutes due to its resonant qualities.

This six-hole, Native American-style flute is tuned to 440Hz, the universal concert pitch. It features a removable block for easy condensation removal and proper drying after playing.

Choosing the Right Flute

The three Basic flute keys - A, G, and F# - differ in size and pitch. As the flutes move down in pitch, they become larger, with the fingering holes spaced farther apart and lower on the body, making the lower flutes more challenging to play.

The Key of A is our smallest and highest-pitched Basic flute, making it a great choice for those with smaller hands or limited flexibility. Many flute classes will recommend starting with this key.

The Key of G is the middle-sized Basic flute, with a soothing voice that makes it our most popular choice. Most people can easily play this key.

The Key of F# is our lowest and largest Basic flute, and consequently the most difficult to play, especially for those with smaller hands or no prior instrument experience.
