Saxophone Care and Maintenance: Ensuring Optimal Performance

1. Mouthpiece and Neck Upkeep: Remove the reed and use a cleaning swab to remove dirt from the mouthpiece and the interior of the neck.

2. Moisture Removal from Pads: If the pads are damp, insert a piece of cleaning paper between the pad and the tone hole, then lightly press the key several times to absorb the moisture.

3. Tube Interior Cleaning: Insert a saxophone cleaning swab into the bell and pull it through the neck joint to clean the inside of the tube.

4. Surface Dirt Removal: Use a polishing cloth to remove fingerprints and dirt from the surface of the instrument.

5. Octave Key Cleaning: The small tone hole of the octave key can easily become clogged, so clean it with a tone hole cleaner.
